Debian 9 installation cannot modify current partition table

#1 Post by omixam »

I'm trying to install Debian 9 using netinstall, but when I get to the step to modify the partitions, first I cannot see my current partition table, I saw the entire disk, and second all options available try to use the entire disk. I have another OS installed in this disk, I want modify only my old linux partitions, but I only saw the entire disk.

I attached two images that show how it seen this step, sorry the images are in spanish.

That is odd. Do you have a different Debian installation image? Corruption of installation images is more common than one thinks.

If you do not have another installation image and your system has Internet connection during installation, could you download the network installer (or the mini.iso) and give it a try? Preferably the Stable image (1) --this is the version of the installer, not of the system.

That was the first option. Today I download a CD installer from

https://www.debian.org/CD/http-ftp/#stable

But the same situation, do not show, existing partition table, and or option wants use entire disk for installation.

Could you list the partition table (fdisk --list) of the target device? I guess that it uses GPT and that, somehow, it is not being recognised by partman (the partition utility used by the Debian Installer.) Since not having a partition table is not an error in itself, the partition process continues (and shows you an empty device.)

No solution neither debian Network Install [1] nor Debian CD [2].

I need to first create a partition table with Gparted Live CD [3], and after boot again Network installer [1] I could see the partition table and could installed Debian.

I supposed, that this is an issue with partman.
