downloading for cross development

#1 Post by mzimmers »

(I hope this is the best forum for this question)

I'm using my desktop Debian system to cross develop for a BBB (also running Debian, but a different version). I need to get the Linux header files for the BBB onto my host, and I'm not sure how best to accomplish this.

I know the repository to use (https://rcn-ee.com/) and the package name (linux-headers-4.4.48-ti-r88). What I don't know is how to get apt to install the package in a non-standard location, so I don't inadvertently overwrite the files that are correct for my host. Truthfully, I'm not even 100% sure this is the right way to get these files; I just know that I need them on my host.

Can someone please provide me with some guidance on this? Thank you.
