[Grub]grub-install dummy failed

#1 Post by berillions »

Hi,

I have a big problem when i install Debian 9 from NetInstall or Live.
The problem come from at the end during grub install.

I have the message :
The installation of grub-install dummy has failed
Unable to install grub-install dummy : Fatal Error

I have an EFI partition which work because i have not problem to i install Archlinux.
How to resolv this problem from Debian Live ?

Other solution : it is possible to uninstall grub and don't use a bootloader ?
Just use the Bios entry.

Thanks

you have to go to BIOS settings and look for an EFI/UEFI option somewhere and see if it's enabled or disabled then you must run the installer again.

In the process of installing when the partition tool runs you can delete the existing boot partition and installer will recreate it for you. When the install process reaches the point of installing GRUB it should install the dummy without problem.
