I'm trying to install Debian from Windows via win32-loader downloaded here https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Loader

It's saying it can't verify the GPG signature of a downloaded Release file. This raises eyebrows, since that's a protection against hacked, bogus versions of Debian. Please explain exactly what version of Debian you are trying to install and where you obtained the install image. I'm not saying it's necessarily fake, since other more innocuous problems can also lead to the same error.

I downloaded loader from: here https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Loader
This page contains url to en.wiki article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Win32-loader, which says the website of it is http://www.goodbye-microsoft.com (redirect to https://people.debian.org/~rmh/goodbye-microsoft/). Same file, same issue.
Expert mode has option "Base url for netboot images" shown below

tried on other laptop - same issue.

Hmmm, well, I think the httpredir redirector has been phased out, but it was just supposed to hand off to its replacement gracefully. What happens if you edit "httpredir" to just "http"?

Hmm...I can reproduce your error by running that .exe in Wine. Let's see if fiddling around with it does anything.

Later: Nope, looks like a long-standing bug: https://superuser.com/questions/1229943 ... be-trusted

You can always try installing it like most other people do, by manually downloading an ISO image, shrinking the Windows partitions if you want to dual-boot, creating an installer USB pendrive from the ISO (Rufus works in Windows), and then booting from that drive.

@stevepusser

If I put

Code: Select all

httpredir.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/
into a browser it redirects to

Code: Select all

http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/
I wondered about win32-loader on an Aton, but it seems to be Ok.

Have you run memory test? if not, do it, it may be the case the memory is corrupting the files, if not, than a malicious code into windows can be changing the package contents.
