debian installer failed to detect hard disk on ASUS laptop
debian installer failed to detect hard disk on ASUS laptop
I am using debian 9.2 install DVD to install debian on my ASUS P45 VJ laptop, I used Rufus to make a bootable media.
The image file which I used was: firmware-9.2.1-amd64-DVD-1.iso.
However, debian install DVD failed to detect my hard disk during installation.
But if I press Ctrl+Alt+F2 to switch to a console, I can use fdisk to see my hard disk.
What's the reason that the installer cannot detect my hard disk?
Any help will be appreciated.

Maybe your laptop is not supported hardware, But who knows you don't even bother to mention what kind of Laptop, and there are literally 1000s,...

debian installer failed to detect hard disk on my laptopThe third most likely reason is that you have not provided enough information on your problem for someone to help you. Try adding as much detailed information on the problem as you can along with what machine you have and it's specifications as well as specifically stating which version of Debian you are using.

One point to say, the result of detecting network hardware says:
Code: Select all
"Some of your hardware needs non-free firmware files to operate. The firmware loade dfrom removable media, such as a USB stick or floppy.
The missing firmware files are: iwlwifi-6000g2b-6.ucode."
The result of detecting hard disk says:
Code: Select all
"No disk drive was detected, If you know he name of the driver needed by your disk driver, you can select it from the list.
Driver needed for you disk drive:"
If I choose one such as 3w-9xxx, It returned to the page saying "No disk drive was detected" again.

No problem, thanks for posting the info, now some people may be ableSorry that I have not pasted enough materials here.
to help you. Using code boxes, helps make it more readable as well

I am not much of a tech, so can't help there, but now others that are more
tech oriented should be able to.
I do know we have quite of few threads, where people using Asus hardware
had problems, and they were able to solve the problems, in most cases.

I presume that you mean Rufus, yes?icyhearts wrote:I used fufus to make a bootable media
If so then you need to use "DD" [sic] mode to ensure correct transfer.
For Windows 10, I would recommend installing the Linux subsystem and then following Debian's official advice:

Yes, it should be rufus. I will correct my wrong typing.Head_on_a_Stick wrote:I presume that you mean Rufus, yes?icyhearts wrote:I used fufus to make a bootable media
