debian on lenovo l13 possible ?

Postby oida » 2020-04-06 19:10

Hi, a local dealer nearby is offering a lenovo l13 with the i5-10210U and the mat ips display at a good price.

I am very interested since i am working oiften outside or on customers site or in the public and so the l13 with the dock is definitely a good option for me. But i am using debian buster at the moment and i am very satisfied with the system and stability and under no circumstances i want to change to that windows thingi.

I have not found any information about debian running on this machine. If anyone of you have any clues about running debian on l13 or if having any thoughts please let me know.

Keep well and fit and thank you all in advance

That pages describes a machine with a third generation Intel CPU but the OP is enquiring about one with a 10th generation processor.

@OP: buster won't run properly on that. Perhaps the backported kernel might work but I'm not sure.

See also viewtopic.php?p=718549#p718549 (that reply was for Ryzen but your processor is even newer).

Try it and see: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unof ... so-hybrid/

But testing isn't suitable for critical use.

The dealer does not open a box for trying. My hope was that probably someone has this machine up and running.

Thanks again for help

It's known that the AHS version of MX Linux 19.1, based on Buster but with those backports, does work out of the box with tenth-gen Intel graphics. So barring another ISO with the backports preinstalled, testing that in a live session would provide an answer.

The Debian testing live images to which I linked earlier are running kernel 5.4.19-1, albeit with slightly older firmware than the AHS images. The ISO in my signature uses the backported kernel and the newer firmware from MX (thanks).
