start grub at item 7 in the automatic list grub.cfg

#1 Post by oui »

Hi

Grub is the pest today because of the automatic build of grub.cfg...

Espec. for those like I ready very difficult English (I did install "info" like sugg. at /etc/default/grub but LOG info comes in English although my system is actually in German (or French, both are installed).

I search only for that very little detail:

how to start grub at item 7 in the automatic list grub.cfg :idea:

An idea how to do that?

Kind regards

edit the file /etc/default/grub (as root or with sudo) and change the line that reads

Code: Select all

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
and make it read

Code: Select all

GRUB_DEFAULT=7
Once this has been saved you need to update grub to set this change, then reboot and you should automatically start number 7 in your list.

GRUB counts the options from zero so the seventh option would be assigned to number 6.
