Slow login to desktop

#1 Post by benj111 »

Just done a new install of LXQT, and im getting a 20 second delay between login and the desktop being usable.

I've tried switching to LXDE and lightDM to see if it was either of those causing the issue.

this is the journalctl output from login to desktop

Code: Select all

Considering I've moved from a single core celeron with shonky ex #! linux install to a shiny new (to me) quad core I3 on a clean install, I'd have expected a performance improvement even though, yes, this is probably more IO bottlenecked than processor bottlenecked.

anacron?

did you try

systemd-anayze, you can use it to analyze what is the time spent doing what specific things during boot.
see man systemd-analyze

Do you still see a delay if you drop the display manager? See http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=123694 for the method (which has the added benefit of running X under the normal user instead of the root user).
