Install debian 10 on preformatted partition (without reforma

Postby burnix » 2020-06-23 08:35

Hi.
i want to know if it's possible to install debian 10 on disk that contain ext4 partition formatted with specials parameters.

The goal was to make my backup software to easily backup debian 10. I use ATI and the problem was that Acronis did not update its core engine and so, i can backup ext4 slackware 14.2 partion but not debian 10 ext4.

The problem is just the maner how is formated the partition.

I thank you a lot in advance if someone can help me.

Of course - in the installer You need to select manual partitioning option, then select the mount point for the partition (f.e. /root) and disable re-formatting - that's all.

PS:
I'm always using pre-formatted ext4 partitions for new installation, because I need custom stride/stripe sizes, among some other settings ;)
