vpn for linux

Postby alexablondie » 2020-09-18 12:17

actually my question would be what VPN service is the best for linux
i found this https://nordvpn.com/ru/download/linux/ but im not sure about that
maybe surfshark would be the better option?
https://vpn-anbieter-vergleich-test.de/surfshark/
and ovpn , which is not such a popular provider, gives a detailed step by step instruction about it, too https://www.ovpn.com/en/guides/debian

I have, like a lot others, already for nearly 2 years my own VPN on a Raspberry Pi with Debian on it.
A very nice manual how to realize this:

You have only once the cost of buying the RPi setup stuff and some very small amount of energy per moths as the RPi is a low power device.

https://wiki.debian.org/FreedomBox/Manual/OpenVPN

I have a freedombox but before it was installed, started using airvpn

https://airvpn.org/
Been rock solid very easy to use and "right on". In fact so good in all aspects I'll renew, because I believe good stuff needs supported.

Supports openvpn but has a gui client "eddie" for non techies (eddie is a bit fat).

just a happy customer

Let me echo oswaldkelso' s comments on Airvpn. It works well. One of it's tools is IPleak which I reccomend even if you don't use Airvpn.
