INTEL RST

#1 Post by gusi »

Hi
i got a DELL Inspiron 7490 , this has an Optane Board
in the Bios , i cant change to AHCI-Mode
https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron ... -p/7393794

In Intel-RST-Mode , the Debian - installer see no Fixed-Disk
There is a Linux- Endless-OS (Debian-Base) , that can handle this.
i have installed for test, but it cannot compare with origal debian, ,

Can i use the endless-Kernel for Debian ???

https://community.endlessos.com/t/relea ... -0/10650/1
Release | Endless OS 3.7.0
...Some modern PC platforms have a BIOS option called “RAID mode”
or “Intel RST Optane”, typically set by default,
which would previously cause any NVMe disks to be unavailable to Endless.
--> Endless can now work with these disks regardless of BIOS settings. <---

more and more Laptops use Optane mode, and many of these , there is no option for AHCI-mode
Is Debian in working with this Theme ? so i will wait

Best Regards
(Excuse my bad endlish)

Have you tried dropping to a console (<ctrl>+<alt>+F3) and

Code: Select all

# modprobe intel-rst

the User wrote "When put in an ACPI sleep state......"

that can i not do , there is no option for AHCI in my Bios

yes , i had these CD - downloaded , nothing

No one Lnux support this currently, in ubuntu , u can use Raid-tools for visible the Disk,
but the Installer is an other Theme.
Once Endless-os handle this since 2 Years

For my new Laptop, i will buy only with AMD-Processor , so i ignore the criminals from Intel and Microsoft,
force me to use Windows 10 , intel has only Windows-Driver for Intel -Rapid - Storage

No, Intel have supplied a driver for Linux and it is included in the Debian kernel as a module. My suggested command should load that module.

that is not true
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/de/product/55005

ONLY Windows !

do not speculate , do write facts
have u installed ever Debian for real on a Rapid -storage - PC ? no, u wrote only
u has no exp with this theme

On all these Debian-installs , u musst disable RST und enable AHCI-Mode
and that is not enable on all PC with this Controller

Please read the link to the Linux kernel module I supplied earlier. Intel do not provide a download link on their site because they've already submitted the driver to the kernel.

Anyway I'm done with this thread. Good luck.

EDIT: for Optane management see https://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/ ... emory.html
