Debian (etch) install on Intergraph workstation fails

#1 Post by roguebeck »

I am trying to install Debian (etch) on a Intergraph workstation. Dual Pentium 166's, 168 Megs of RAM. The bios doesn't support booting from the cdrom, so I am using the boot and root floppies to install via the net.
The cdrom and Hard drives are SCSI, but the aic7xxx module seems to detect them ok. I get all the way through partitioning the hard drives, and they appear to get formatted with ext2. Then any step after that fails. Grub won't install, lilo won't install. any of the remaining menu items fail (that nice red screen pops up and tells me that it failed).

I have logs for the following

* hardware-summary
* partman
* messages
* debconf-seed
* syslog

at my website (since they are pretty long I didn't want to paste them in here)

I run debian on quite a few machines but this Intergraph is killing me. It's a personal vendeta now!
Help?......

Thanks.
