Installation over null-modem link

#1 Post by Devastator »

Hey guys,

I have this server, which has no keyboard, mouse or screen.
It has though a serial port, which is connect to my laptop using
a null-modem cable.

Is there anyway I can install debian on this server, using the
serial console? With the standard debian sarge cd, it won't work.
I already editted the bootprompt from the install cd, to use the
serial console as the standard output. This works perfectly, I
get all the boot--info on my laptop, but when the menu loads,
I don't get it on my screen.

Anyone got a link or so to a debian install script or something else
I can use over a serial line?

Thanx!

Just configure PPP to work over the nullmodem. It works under woody. Dont know about sarge.
