s3 graphics driver

hi,

in my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 driver is set to "vesa"
the graphics chip in my laptop is a s3 twister

i downloaded the driver for linux.
extracted the tarball and it contained only 2 files:
-s3switch
-savage_drv.o

i've put savage_drv.o in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers

en edited the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file:
changed "vesa" to "savage"

but when i restart X it quits with an error.

no screen found...

So Debian Sarge(what kerne?l) XF86's savage driver did not work for you?On what lappy?
Check linux-on-laptop or tuxmobile lists for Sarge installs on your lappy model for help. Google s3 twister sarge config gave several hits describing how installers managed with your video chip. Good luck.
