yes, by means of telephatical powers, we can magically see what the issue is, and what you exactly mean.

X configuration file is /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. You can run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 to reconfigure X.

Never modify XF86Configure-4 by hand... xserver-xfree86 uses a special lock file which is updated everytime you use dpkg-reconfigure. If you make changes by hand, the lockfile will refer to an incorrect file, and you won't be able to use dpkg-reconfigure anymore, unless you reset the lockfile...

Here are the few lines at the top of the XF86Configure-4
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xfree86 package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xfree86
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following commands as root:
#
# cp /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.custom
# md5sum /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 >/var/lib/xfree86/XF86Config-4.md5sum
# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
