Firefox installation

#1 Post by FReNsJ »

I installed my firefox 1.0 while I was root, but now I can not open it when I'm the normal user.

How can I overcome this?

How did you install it, and what happens when you try to run it as normal user?
Real Men don't make backups. They upload it via ftp and let the world mirror it.

what I got while trying to open it as user:
frensj@Throne:~$ /usr/bin/firefox
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: XDM authorization key matches an existing client!

(firefox-bin:3724): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
frensj@Throne:~$
I got some other hints from other linux users, none helped me :/
Maybe it's a difference that I first installed it as user root?
but here's what I did
while logged in as frensj I did:
su
password
apt-get remove mozilla-firefox
apt-get install mozilla-firefox
and apearantly that did the trick, because I'm typing this right now as 'frensj'

now that I have my firefox working I can get moving with installing a whole system :)

thx for wanting to help anyway ;)
