Laptop Install no /dev/psaux !?! - CURED !!

#1 Post by mudra »

add to add psmouse to /etc/modules then everything was good to go !!

Too used to other installs where everything is done for you.

Anyway finished my install and my laptop now has synaptic, nvidia, and ACPI support all working. More than can be said for XP.

Installing sarge on my laptop, and all appears to go well until I reboot. At this point x will not start and I get a mouse error. I then have to do the following:-

mknod /dev/psaux c 10 1
chmod a+x /dev/psaux

I can then startx !!

Is there anyway I can make the change stay after a reboot ?

Do I have to write a script to make this happen every boot ?

Am I going about this the wrong way ?

TIA

If you have a newer 2.4 or a 2.6 kernel you should consider using /dev/input/mice instead as the input device.
