floppy installation

#1 Post by jughead »

I have the new version of Debian, however, the comp I would like to install it on does not have a boot device selector in the bios... It ALWAYS checks floppy-->HDD-->CD-ROM. To get XP Pro on there I had to d/l a 6-floppy setup application, then it read off of the cd.

Is there a similar solution for Debian? Or any other recent distro? I tried the live version of Knoppix; that's what got me interested in Linux.

Thanks for the help!

It looks like the current stable version of Debian (Sarge) still supports floppy installation. Check out the links to the images from

http://www.debian.org/releases/sarge/debian-installer/

You might also want to read through the Sarge installation manual, which is linked from the same page.
