nginx gone with the wind [SOLVED]

Nginx no more in jessie repo.
WHY? Because of its commercial offering?
So all those Debian servers running nginx will no longer be able to upgrade gracefully.

Read that page but still things not clear for me, is nginx going back into testing?

The updated package went into unstable today - so maybe try installing it from unstable? (or just wait for it to migrate to testing)

Better yet, run the stable release and you won't encounter these problems...

The only reason why I don't run stable + backports is that it is tough to migrate to the next version.
But that is only on my desktop because I use lots of apps that I don't on a server.
Maybe I should use stable + backports on a server and jessie on my laptop/desktop.
Food for thought.
I prefer not to mix Debian branches, unexpected/unwanted results may occur.

Maybe I should
read all the relevant documentation.
Nearly everything you have written in this thread is utter nonsense and clearly shows that you got no clue and should use debian stable. Perhaps even choose a different distro
(For starters you should have checked here: http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages before making the thread at all. If running testing you should know that page. And you shouldn't run a webserver on debian testing. To make that short: The thread itself is pointless).

Yeah, yeah, la-la arrogance, blah, blah elitist. Try a family friendly forum like mint or crunchbang if you can't live with the truth. But then: it doesn't look as if many here would use Debian anyway. Use the ignore button or the report button or such. Resistance is futile, i do it only for the lulz.

No, it's easy.
Now you have no reason not to run stable. :)
But that is only on my desktop because I use lots of apps that I don't on a server.

If you run testing, you already get unexpected/unwanted results, so if the testing version isn't buggy enough (or doesn't exist because of outstanding bugs) you can usually just pull it from sid.

Just noticed that nginx 1.4.4-1 is actually in wheezy-backports - so no need to run testing/unstable at all...

Actually I am not planning to run testing on a live server (+3).
I just wanted to test nginx on my local server, I run testing there.
Environments are different, in my computer I have lots of programs, and upgrading to a major new version did crash my system once, so now I use testing which upgrades seamlessly, in small increments, and I have no problems there.
Happy to know that nginx is in wheezy + backports that solves my problem.
Thanks for the info.

ispconfig recommends the testing branch on a server.
http://www.ispconfig.org/page/home.html
This does not mean that I will not use stable + backports, I will.
Just to point out that to use testing on a server, which by definition has very few packages loaded, is not such a lunatic idea.

It doesn't matter what they recommend.
The German community will recommed to mix and mash stable, testing and unstable all the time. That still doesn't make it a good idea.
You posted it here, and here it is considered to be no good idea (at least as far i can tell).

Joey Hess, btw, posts that he uses Sid on certain servers too. But that is not the point (He is able to deal with such, so he has all the right in the world to do it, just like anyone else).

And again: Before you even consider such you will have to understand how the Debian branches work (mainly that packages can be removed from testing).
If you would have understood that, you wouldn't have made this thread.
As far it is me you are very far from understanding what very basic problems _you have got.
