Hey everyone,
I have read the wiki section on becoming a Debian Developer, and I am aware that I need to be a maintainer first and I'm curious how I would go about becoming a Debian Maintainer. Is there a way for me to find some packages to maintain? Also, do I need someone to sponsor me?
Thanks for any insight, and I apologize if there was something I missed when researching.

Re: Quick question about getting involved
You can try to package something for Debian, then get it uploaded by a sponsor. Or you can try to fix bugs in existing software. Other things, like documentation or translation, help with becoming a Debian member, and probably can't hurt with the process of becoming a maintainer too.
Packages needing help (or prospective packages) here:

And there's lots of documentation around on the processes...
