It sucks that KDE Partition Manager hasn't been updated to the newest version. How can this be? Is this distribution serious anymore?
Can't launch partitionmanager (KDE su)

Still using KDE Partition Manager 1.0.x 6 years old????????
Re: Still using KDE Partition Manager 1.0.x 6 years old?????
If you want people to take you seriously, you might want to do a little bit of homework (or become more proficient at basic arithmetic) before venting your spleen against Debian and its maintainers. (Hint: for 4 of those 6 years, there was exactly zero upstream activity. Version 1.0.x was current until roughly 18 months ago, not 6 years.)tuxxie wrote:Is this distribution serious anymore?
Besides, if you have problems distinguishing between newer and better, then Debian is most emphatically not the distro for you. With one very high profile exception, Debian as a distro prefers well-tested over new-shiny-shiny.
(PS. It would no doubt offend your keen software fashion sense, but gparted works just fine with KDE.)

kdesu (what you typed as KDE su) is installed in Debian, but is not in an executable PATH. If you want that, run with admin privileges a command to link it somewhere in your path, such as:
Code: Select all
ln -s /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu /usr/bin/kdesu

I used the search box in the start menu, which launched kdesu, I didn't enter the command on a terminal, so it's a problem with the desktop environment.stevepusser wrote:kdesu (what you typed as KDE su) is installed in Debian, but is not in an executable PATH. I'd be a bit more careful in proclaiming it used kdesu, especially when you did not see it happen. I think the program has the request for admin privileges built into it, and does not use kdesu at all, since it's not in the PATH.

That's true of course, but if you click on the desktop and start typing "kdesu <some program>" then it does run kdesu as if it's in your path, using the "Run program" feature. So you don't really need to link it into your PATH, unless you particularly want to run it in a terminal.kdesu (what you typed as KDE su) is installed in Debian, but is not in an executable PATH.
