Brian Lunduke says
Debian Stable 8.5 is reminiscent of Ubuntu’s early days. It’s stable and fast, but just a wee bit stale.

I liked the article too. Funny stuff:
Will I continue running Debian Stable? No. It’s great, stable and fast, but it’s not exactly my cup of tea.
wtf? the dude likes not-great, crash-prone, slow linuxes better?

this link made me smile because I Mustn't read:

He's a board member at OpenSUSE. Coming from that angle what he's said is high praise, indeed, for Debian.

C'mon this is a textbook false dichotomy. I think the guy has been fair in his review, he said nothing new or interesting but nevertheless was fair, you should be fair too (well, actually we should always be fair regardless, shouldn't we?). ;)

Debian is a boring system by design, we tell it constantly to people who try to make it interesting by upgrading to Testing/Unstable or adding third party repositories and the like.
There are cars that are plain, safe, reliable, great mileage and so on, but many still prefer trucks or sport cars or bikes.

It is a an independent Linux distribution that is sponsored by SUSE. It has two releases: Leap for the users who prefer to use set releases and Tumbleweed for people who prefer rolling release.

With nearly 2000 posts (at this moment in time) and an account that has been created in 2011, are you? :)

Yes, just as it should be.

And I hope it stays so, without any concession to fancy new staff or unneeded new "services" .
I'm seeing some stuff in testing (things related to phones and mobile devices, I don't even remember what it was) that I don't like one bit.
