Debian 10 is buster, correct? This was today's upgrade.

According to https://release.debian.org/ Buster is still not released.

Just a guess here, but presumably they have a checklist for stuff to remember during the freeze period prior to the release date, and there is an item that says "remember to change the name from "Debian GNU/Linux buster/sid" to " Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)""

They need another item to remind them to capitalize buster. And sid. Maybe it's just me

Misleading topic title, since Debian Buster has not been officially released yet, but I guess this does indicate it will be soon. I guess right now, buster / sid are the same, and after Debian buster is actually released Debian sid will be separate again.

Misleading topic title, since Debian Buster has not been officially released yet, but I guess this does indicate it will be soon. I guess right now, buster / sid are the same, and after Debian buster is actually released Debian sid will be separate again.

I don't know what you've installed or updated, but it's not debian, and certainly not buster
(hint: not released yet).

You might want to post your sources.list, unless your intention is to play riddles.
Please note that buster has (will have) kernel 4.19
(and currently xfce4 4.12.5, not 4.12.4 as you have).

You have upgraded to the 10.3 version of the base-files package from sid.

Version 10.2 changed the stable release to buster but buster itself is still on version 10.1

You should probably read the first link in my signature if you want to use Debian stable.

I want testing, will reinstall and leave well enough alone. The 5.0.1 Kernel came from "http://www.theubuntumaniac.com/2019/03/ ... lease.html" You can remove this whole discussion if you want. I am dropping it and do not intend to reply. Cannot say it has been fun. Never thought I would have this sort of trouble, it was not my intention.
