How long does it take from the time a package says accepted into branch to the point we can update using apt?

For example the Debian Package Tracker says the package linux :

https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/linux

says it has been updated from 5.3.9-3 to 5.3.15-1 for unstable this morning but many hours later into the evening it does not show up under apt upgrade

Well, if you are using stable, don't hold your breath.

It's all documented well at many places, like https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debi ... #s-testing

If you want time estimate, when newer version of tracker or any package comes to stable, more like years than days.

EDIT: Above line is wrong, stable will not change, there are no new packages, only security updates. Only new release of stable has new versions.

If the OP is using sid then perhaps try the redirector.

I was referring to unstable. I know it will not go all the way to stable. I was talking more about like when it is announced for a particular branch be it stable or unstable. The time the update is announced to the time it has been uploaded to the repos to download.

It can get backported to stable relatively quickly if you do it yourself...https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... source-5.3

I did Buster and Stretch backports for MX Linux myself last night for MX Linux's test repo. My gaming laptop builds them several times faster than the OBS can manage.
