Someone estimates that, based on the number of RC bugs, Lenny will be released around June 2009. Here's the blog post.

Frozen... Yes! I'm really excited about Lenny.

I'm gonna miss Etch. It's what got me hooked on Linux, but more specifically, hooked on Debian :) I learned many ninja skills on etch...

I found a news on distrowatch somewhere, that they aimed to release stable etch in Q4 2008 - somewhere around October, although I can't find it now. I know it's subject to change, however July 2009 is sooooo distant.

So etch is still not stable
stable

The "stable" distribution contains the latest officially released distribution of Debian.

This is the production release of Debian, the one which we primarily recommend using.

The current "stable" distribution of Debian GNU/Linux is version 4.0r4, codenamed etch. It was released on July 26th, 2008.
So it must be stable if they say that on the offical website
Lenny will be released around June 2009.
that is a long way away. Is there alot of bugs in the system they have.

Has any offical word come from the top developers on the release date.

I was so excited about the october release. That is when i was going to get alot of my friends to change over to linux. Going to promote debian as much as i can.

I think gabriel meant to say:
they aimed to release stable Lenny in Q4 2008
I think that is still the case

Yes, exactely - I apolagiese for my mistake. Just recently I've read on Distrowatch Weekly, that October is NOW, and there's still no word from the team.
