Are there any plans to ever include the Ubuntu suspend/hibernate logout dialog patch in xfce-session? As it is, XFCE is a bit on the crippled side on laptops, due to the lack of built-in suspend/hibernate support; this patch would (at least IMHO) make it a more viable option...

You can do it from the commandline. The dds rarely add features to a package - you should ask the Xfce devs.

Post there with your support. If you have a compelling argument why this is CRITICAL to xfce4, you could consider CC'ing your message to the xfce4 debian mailing list.

I can? As far as I know, there is no way to invoke HAL suspend from the CLI (the FD.org people say it's still in development).

pm-utils provides terminal utilities for suspend and hibernate. Not sure how HAL figures in, though.

/usr/lib/hal/linux/hal-system-power-suspend-linux? The relevant quirks should be imported from the .fdi file.

Nothing happens if the script is run. If it is run as root... Still nothing happens.

(I corrected the typo BTW, it's /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/hal-system-power-suspend-linux.)
