I think ever since the newer Windows Live Messengers have come out and people have upgraded to them, I can't send and receive files from them anymore and must resort to email!
Is this a bug or not?

Not a bug more the fact that MSN/ICQ/Yahoo have a bad habit of changing the way their IM protocols work. The version of pidgin in testing/sid should work.
