I tried a few times to make a PPC bootable iso to no avail. There is not an awful lot of information on the net about this. Does anyone here (Bro.Tiag?) know how to create the iso? I tried with mkisofs. I need the secret recipe to make it happen.

I am also going to try Refracta's code to copy a system:

Code: Select all
lh_config --bootstrap copy --debian-installer live

In the link to meandeans how-to posted by Bro.Tiag the command is mkisofs. Replace it by genisoimage and that should do it
(in other words: that what i did, and it worked. Worked means it created an iso. Live-helper either works or works not for me).
The command would look like this:
Code: Select all
genisoimage -r -V "cd" -cache-inodes -J -l -o newcd.iso \
-b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat \
-no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table iso/

Well: thats what i saved in my how-to-directory. You need to check if its correct.

PS/next post by linuxopjemac: Sorry. I should have known.

Nadir: that's for x86, not for ppc...

No, I am not going to try as I found some old post somewhere...This is probably the magic formula:

Code: Select all
genisoimage -r -T --netatalk -hfs -probe -map hfs.map -part -no-desktop -hfs-bless iso/live/ -hfs-volid Debian-Mint-Installer/PPC -o mini.iso iso

Oh man, I'm happy now. I am writing this from a live Debian Linux Mint LXDE environment. This is a major breakthrough for me. I will have to tweak a few things here and there but I now understand the way to create an iso bootable for PowerPC.

:D :D :D :D :D

Sorry for delaying in replying, but It's been a very busy Holiday week end. Right, I never was able to make a ppc.iso, and since you've got it sorted out, guess I wont have to. : ) Anyhow, good on ya, and enjoy.

Cheers

For those people working with PowerPC:

I had an email from Daniel Baumann, he is the maintainer of live-helper. According to him, live-helper 1.0.3, which is installed in Lenny by default, does not support powerpc. That's why I couldn't add an Debian installer. I will try to upgrade to 2.0 via Sid. He also told me that it would install just fine in Lenny. I will keep you updated.
