No autostart for X (Solved)

#1 Post by louiscoccia »

I have Debian wheezy as a guest on virtualbox 4.1.8 (Windows 7). During one of my updates, X stopped loading automatically. I get a terminal login prompt. If I login, and then run startx, everything works fine. I'm not sure how to fix this...can anyone help me?

If you didn't manually install one, Gnome's display manager is gdm. Can you please post the output of:

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy gdm3

Well feeling a little foolish.....I don't know where it went, but after reinstalling gdm3, everything is fine. Thanks for fixing my brain fart!

Sure. Happens to the best of us. Since this is fixed be sure to edit the title of the first post to mark as solved.
