Wine, it doesn't work on the lastest upgrade

#1 Post by Aaaaeeee »

HI, I have a big problem, Today I upgraded my debia linux system to the
latest version for the unstable distro, and this procces end and a try
to run wine to play Tibia, it doesn't work, I think it could be a
problem from the tibia game, but when a try to run winecfg, the same
error logs appear:

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range
for operation)
Major opcode of failed request:  78 (X_CreateColormap)
  Value in failed request:  0x0
Serial number of failed request:  66
Current serial number in output stream:  84

I install the packages from de debian chile mirrors, debian mirror from
winehp and I compile de source, and I always have the same error log.

I hope there are someone could help me.

Wine is troublesome sometimes and regressions do occur. The only thing you can really do is live with it.

I have wine 0.9.19 compiled from source and debian unstable and so far i haven`t had any problems. Is there something unusual in your system?

I downgrade form kernel 2.6.17 to kernel 2.6.16 and it work fine. It seem the problem apear under kernel 2.6.17. The solution is simple: continue with kernel 2.6.16 :)

Ugh, kernel regressions + Wine = trouble...

Could anyone find out why 2.6.17 causes this problem?
