.desktop file - specify folder in menu
.desktop file - specify folder in menu
I'm trying to make a .desktop file for LMMS. It's a multimedia app.When I made the new .desktop and put it in /usr/share/applications/, KDE put it in the Lost & Found folder. How do I specify that it should be in the Multimedia folder in the menu by default?

Re: .desktop file - specify folder in menu
add
Categories=AudioVideo;
to the .desktop file
But if you installed lmms from the debian repo it should create its own desktop file and show in the menu.

It should, but it doesn't. http://lists.debian.org/debian-edu/2012 ... 00080.html
For future use, how does one find what categories are mapped to each folder in KDE's menu?

Not sure what kde does but there is a standard - http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-s ... y-registryFor future use, how does one find what categories are mapped to each folder in KDE's menu?
All I usually do is look at other .desktop files to figure out what goes where.
