makepsres is necessary for some old (but excellent) X11 apps*
this was hard to find and ftp and didn't build (due to xorg). this is verbatim but comes with build instructions that work and available by http.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/debguys ... res.tar.gz
* even when building installing newer Xorg perhaps. but Xorg no longer has it - only XFree86 still does. some of the older apps (ie, mathematica) were so good that nothing short of a newer version of the same free or non-free are any good compared to it (for it's use).
p.s.
i noticed a coule of things ...
things one needs to build GNU/Linux which were being collected and available by wget(1)
are now all going off-line and use of ftp(1) or git(1) is "mandatory". the apologetic websites are offering the excuse that apache cannot do "web download" (bull)
things are becoming "git mandatory" and see "git" is controlled by a group that alters depends compatibility and are asking developers to pay for git: which is composed of GPL components

ITP : makepsres
Re: ITP : makepsres
instead of sharing your ITP's here it would be better to put them as ITP's and put it via reportbug and see/seek mentors.debian.net . I think you will get better mileage for your statement/query there.

Re: ITP : makepsres
Does anyone know what an ITP is? My googling yielded results that were ... unexpected.

Re: ITP : makepsres
Install reportbug and then do the following :-
You will get output something like this :-
Choose 1 here and then fill in the details. Once you have done that, start packaging the software using 'The New Maintainer's Guide' as well as look at 'Debian Policy' . You can use #debian-mentors on oftc.net to help with your packaging efforts. Once the package is somewhat done, upload it to mentors.debian.net and ask people on the list to review your packaging effort, they will document whatever they find on the ITP bug, fix it and re-upload, ask somebody to sponsor your package (RFS - Request for Sponsorship) and hopefully soonish your package will appear in the archive.

1 ITP This is an `Intent To Package'. Please submit a package description along with copyright and URL in such a report.
2 O The package has been `Orphaned'. It needs a new maintainer as soon as possible.
3 RFA This is a `Request for Adoption'. Due to lack of time, resources, interest or something similar, the current maintainer is asking for
someone else to maintain this package. They will maintain it in the meantime, but perhaps not in the best possible way. In short: the
package needs a new maintainer.
4 RFH This is a `Request For Help'. The current maintainer wants to continue to maintain this package, but they needs some help to do this,
because their time is limited or the package is quite big and needs several maintainers.
5 RFP This is a `Request For Package'. You have found an interesting piece of software and would like someone else to maintain it for Debian.
Please submit a package description along with copyright and URL in such a report.
