One topic I found most compelling was the mixing of repositories on the testing/unstable machine (yes, some vitriol from @dasein on this is possible) as explained in the Administrator's Handbook:

6.1.3. Repositories for Testing/Unstable Users

The problem is mixing repositories on a Debian stable system, of course mixing in a testing/unstable system may sometimes even be required to get the machine working, that is not in question.

I don't see what the sources.list you have quoted has to do with Debian stable.

Nothing in this tread has anything to do with running stable. I only noted I found it compelling, as I hadn't seen that particular description of it before.
