Debian (64) doesn't work any more: Skype!!!!

#1 Post by oui »

Hi

What is the matter with Debian (AMD64)?

It doesn't work any more! It is broken! It can not manage Skype at all?

A second range Linux arrangement now?

Kind regards

So you followed the Debian wiki on how to set up Skype on 64-bit, correct? As you are expected to do before posting a question here?

At what point in that procedure did things go wrong?

You have to enable multiarch and install pulseaudio. In other words make sure you also have the 32 bit libraries installed before attempting to install Skype.

Download the .deb package for Skype, then, as root, use:
dpkg -i -full-skype-package-name

THEN, use:

apt-get -f install

to install any missing packages that have to be pulled in as a result of installing Skype.

The worst infection of all, is a false sense of security!
It is hard to get away from CLI tools.
