Hi oswaldkelso.

If you don't like the thread, fair enough. But please don't call for the thread to be closed -- that's uncalled-for. Just don't sub to it.

'tbdtitw' -- really?

Not sure what tbdtitw is ?
But I can try to search on that, ... as for the thread,...seems pointless to me,
but others seem to be enjoying it.
My favorite DE is not listed, but I did vote for one,...not important which one.
I do not base my decision on which desktop environment to use on "how popular " it is any way, I customize and make a DE I like, and really don't care what is the "favorite" of others,....Oddly enough the 2 "most" popular, are my least favorite, one is worse then the other, but neither are very good , in my opinion. And the all DE's seem to be getting worse , instead of better. Very high ram consumption, and very useless.
Pure "bloat", just like so many websites any more,...and the browsers.
Hi Garry.

Why is that unfortunate? It gives people (current and future users) plenty of time to vote whilst ending the poll within a reasonable time-frame.
If you find the thread to be 'pointless' then I don't see why you even posted here.

Hi pendrachken. I do not know how.

I doubt very much you bothered reading up on what tbdtitw is and how it came about. If you had then maybe you'd have understood the humour. Obviously I thought a great big Mr Green clue enough.

Well you could try doing some searches, and read some tutorials, and manuals,
and maybe you might learn something, including how to create your own DE.

Unity.

But I don't currently use it because I have Debian stable (Jessie) on both my machines. They have Gnome, which isn't quite as good, but ok once configured properly.

screen. It's all day long on my desktop and also in my environment. But, to be completely honest, my answer is none. Already mentioned too much bloat.

Well good to know we can lay this issue to rest with your completely non-subjective final definitive answer.
Great! Now that's finalized, let's get onto important topics. Vi or emacs? :D

I've gotta say I'm surprised that MATE has only 6 votes so far.

Hi oswaldkelso.

Yea, I missed the humor.

To be fair 'The-best-desk-top-in-the-world' acronym was a bit of an obscure reference. :|

Hi Garry.

Yes, I could do that and spend ages getting nowhere or I could just stick with MATE.

BTW, thanks for that https://lmsptfy.com/... link as I was unaware of that -- also there's a Let Me DuckDuckGo That For You (LMDDGTFY) one -- handy as those search engines don't give the search term in the url bar.

Debian folks seem to have an affinity for KDE, but with KDE in a bit of Plasma flux right now "KDE's little brother" Xfce is winning the day :)

I love the KDE look and its utilities. However, it has big issues with fonts rendering which causes me headache. Tried multiple resolutions suggested in the Internet, no luck. This was the only reason I switched to GNOME.
