Google Earth Font Faux

#1 Post by socrattt »

I d/l'd "GoogleEarthLinux.bin" to KDE yesterday. During the install, I was alerted:
Google Earth: Miss

You don't seem to have the Bitstream Vera Sans font installed.
I used apt-get to install the font and it seemed to go OK. per:
~# apt-get install ttf-bitstream-vera
Reading package lists... Done

The following NEW packages will be installed:
ttf-bitstream-vera

Need to get 0B/354kB of archives.
After unpacking 750kB of additional disk space will be used.
Media change: please insert the disc labeled
'Debian GNU/Linux testing _Etch_ - Official Snapshot i386 NETINST Binary-1

in the drive '/cdrom/' and press enter

Selecting previously deselected package ttf-bitstream-vera.

Regenerating fonts cache... done.
But, when I try to run it, I get a message:
"GoogleEarth for GNU/Linux 4.0.2735.0"

"Installing mimetypes...

Try 'xdg-mime --help for more information
Installing desktop menu entries...
Can some kind soul interpret this for me? The fonts for the program menus and tools are too small to read.
