Updated Debian 9: 9.5 released

#1 Post by None1975 »

The Debian project is pleased to announce the fifth update of its stable distribution Debian 9 (codename "stretch"). This point release mainly adds corrections for security issues, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories have already been published separately and are referenced where available.
Whats new?
P.S.
I have already updated my system. As always, trouble free upgrade.

Does anybody else enable automatic upgrades? [1]

I have it turned on for everything, I'm useless at remembering to update

No problems here either. I've seen one bug report about those who use Xen, kernel panicks. Just a heads-up.

The only updates I get for my Debian stable system are from the Security Team — surely they are not evil? :o

Then yes, it's necessary. But I'm used to updating manually.

automatic/unattended upgrades may work well, I don't use it. I might though if had a lot of machines to care for. I prefer to wait a few days after pkgs are released, an old habit. Debian pkgs rarely break, but it does happen, and I'd rather troubleshoot when I want to, than when forced to.
