# aptitude purge pulseaudio

7)     rtkit:i386 [0.11-6 (testing, unstable)]                             

     Leave the following dependencies unresolved:                         
8)     pulseaudio:i386 recommends libpam-systemd:i386

the solution is to add more pulseaudio :lol:

There you go. If it doesn't work, you are already in dependency hell.

Why not install apulse instead? https://packages.debian.org/buster/apulse

Not really, aptitude was being thoughtful and was checking if you really wanted to remove the dependent packages. If you had answered "no" then it would have given you the option to uninstall those as well.

The apt & apt-get commands don't give a **** about that and just remove everything.
