Fresh install, weird log files. [SOLVED]

Hello,
Every time I install Debian 9 or 10 x64 from either the official Debian website version or launch it from a paid VPS (tried 2 of them, ovh and vultr)
I get these weird “@^@^@^” symbols populating my FailLog file, every single FRESH install.
They also are in Random places in other Log files just taking up whole lines, in. Auth logs and system boot logs…

Can somebody help explain this to me please as when I see this I assume the log files have been compromised but if it’s from an official Debian source, checksum verified, and tried with no connection to a wan or lan during install/boot
then how can this be? Why is the logs full or random @^@^ files.

Any help or advice would be very appreciated as it’s driving me to stop using Debian, and I don’t want that.
Thank you

I tried to upload to picture but it kept giving me an internal server error so I’ve uploaded it to a picture sharing website.

Search engine says https://serverfault.com/questions/62937 ... gfile-mean

FWIW I also see them on the TTY as the box shuts down.

Jesus that’s a fast reply, thank you.

I’ve been looking for a post like that for months on google, guess I was one keyword off.
Now that I’ve seen that post and you have said you also have seen it in the logs, I feel relieved that I’m not the only one.

You have restored my faith in using Debian again, that’s literally the only reason I haven’t been using it for a while.

Thank you so much

It was a bit tricky to find, my search terms were '"@@@@@@" symbols in logs linux' (startpage.com).

Edit the title of the thread (in the first post) and prepend [SOLVED].

Startpage uses Google too, it just obscures your private data, IP address and such. It would have been H_o_a_S' search terms that did the magic.
