Which method of spam reporting do the moderators prefer?

When using the "Spam reporting" thread we get an e-mail when someone posts (at least those of us that have subscribed to the thread). When using the report button we have to all the time actively look for it, either by go looking at a list of reports all the time or hunt for posts that are marked as reported.

So I prefer that people use the spam reporting thread for spam reporting. It's more effective.

Now that we have SpamHunters ...

Use the button. SpamHunters can see and close the reports. The thread is good for only 1-2 person, but when it is more people, the reporting system is better.

Why do I get a message saying "you are not authorized to view this forum" when I try to go to the spam reporting thread?

I find the reporting button less than ideal, because it requires actually opening the thread to use it. And since we just got a wave of graphic porn in spam, I'd really rather not.

Suggestion: make it so new users can't post images. Is it possible?

Preferred?

Report Post button.

If it's taking it's time to get cleaned out, then feel free to email team@forums.debian.net

Do remember though, we are all around the world, so some stuff might not get cleaned up as quickly as others :D

Hi all. I just realized that this thread was 6 pages long, confusing and filled with a lot of contradictory advice. I've trimmed 95% of it away, and I'm going to post a clarification and lock it.

Once upon a time we had a thread where people could report spam. We don't do that any more. Instead, Mez's post (just above this one) has the current recommendation for reporting spam. Use the report post button. In extreme cases or if something takes way too long to go away, send an email. Remember we aren't always as fast as you might hope. (Don't send an email first thing, please.)

Please don't report spam in threads like this one used to be. It gets too hard to find or follow. Thanks.

PS - Let me remind everyone: please do not reply to spam threads (even as a joke). It never helps.
