How to prevent it from loading?

#1 Post by ed_po »

Hi, here's my current problem:
I want to install alsa driver, but before ,as i understand, i should make sure that the kernel doesn't load an old OSS module. I couldn't find any mention of it in modules or modules.conf files. Would it be a proper way to comment out entries in the /lib/modules/2.6.8-3-k7/modules.alias file in order to prevent it from loading?

THANKS

It will be blocked automagically when you install alsa-base, there generally shouldn't be any problems but a few people (as you've noticed) has had to block them manually in /etc/hotplug/blacklist (this is only with sarge, etch blocks module loading under/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist).
