Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze
Re: Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze [HELP NEEDED!]
Hey dude, I'd just like to say this theme is shaping up very well! I really hope this gets chosen!

Hi canci, the svg icon for the menu doesn't seem to work. I set it up with update-alternatives (start-here.svg). It has that square frame around it, maybe that's what's making it not work (and the png icons don't work for that either).
Am I missing anything?

Re: Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze [HELP NEEDED!]
Hmm, I'm not quite sure what you meant by a square around the icon. Could you maybe post a screenshot? TNX. Could it be that you're running on 16 bit rather than 24? The icon has a blurred gradient glow behind it which probably needs the extra 8bit for transparency. In Inkscape, if I choose that particular glow, it is in a square shape.
EDIT: Or maybe update-alternatives converts it? I'm not familiar with it. Just wait a day or so, I should be having the icon theme ready for testing.

Re: Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze [HELP NEEDED!]
UPDATE: This is Debian Ciel 2.2 - the final commit. The grey version is back and the theming has been dropped since there just doesn't seem to be enough time for testing. I'm still hoping the newly created icon theme will make it though. Thank you for all your feedback and help!

Wow. Congrats.
To be honest: i have expected that from the beginning. Because it _is_ cool stuff. No doubt.

Re: Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze [HELP NEEDED!]
Thanks, but it seems that the theme hasn't really been chosen. Some people from the Debian Desktop
mailing list just thought there was a consensus about this, which there actually wasn't. O_o
So, to make things fairer, you can still vote for one of the 4 ready proposals by subscribing to
the mailing list and saying your opinion. Sorry for the misunderstanding, it's not my doing.

Yves-Alexis Perez wrote: Hey debian-desktop list,
so here we are, we have four themes submitted to the Squeeze artwork
contest (http://wiki.debian.org/DebianDesktopArtworkSqueeze):
* Nightly: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianArt/Themes/Nightly
* SpaceFun: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianArt/Themes/SpaceFun
* Ciel: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianArt/Themes/debian-ciel (with a
discreet variant)
* Lisp Machine: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianArt/Themes/lisp-machine
(with multiple colors)
The four of them should be included in debian-desktop package
(wallpaper, gdm/slim/kdm themes, splash screen), but one should be
selected to be the default Squeeze artwork.
If you think one theme is the best for Squeeze, please reply here,
giving your candidate (and maybe a second, though ordering is a bit
harder) and few words about why you think it should be the default
Squeeze artwork. In case there are multiple variants, please tell us
which one you prefer too.
Sunday evening (at 23:59 UTC, something like that) we'll see what that
are the results, and start working on the packaging itself.
Note that all the themes don't have the same set of artwork, some of
them have wallpapers, some login screen themes, some CD themes. In case
the theme isn't complete, it'd be nice to have some help preparing the
missing bits using the existing artwork.

No disrespect to the others they where all looking good, but I think Ciel is the most Debian-ish one.Yves-Alexis Perez wrote: so here we are, we have four themes submitted to the Squeeze artwork

TNX! I voted for SpaceFun, since I like how the wallpaper looks with the Shiki-Brave theme and gnome-brave icons.

Re: Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze [HELP NEEDED!]
We have a winner: SpaceFun won the theme contest.
Again, sorry for the mix up before. All themes will be
available as packages, but SpaceFun will be the default.

might as well went for this one
I wonder if it is too late to do a 'discreet variant' of the spacefun theme.

Re: Debian Ciel -- My Theme Proposal for Squeeze [HELP NEEDED!]
Now i am very confused. What i did understand:
The next theme will be spacefun. Right?
Who the heck did vote for that?
Not that it does look like old-century only, it is ugly as can be...
It was there from the beginning, but it thought it was by a child. Kind of sad and funny....(sad: it hurts to tell someone: "sorry, pal, but what you did is crap. We won't even consider that.").
You oughta be kidding. I hope i did misunderstand that.
If not i gotta go old-stable.
