Dying for more eyecandies :D

#1 Post by Guest »

Hi all, new to the forum and waiting for account authorization. Does anyone know if there are more eyecandies like gDesklets for Linux? gDesklets is great but absurdly hard to get it working. I've spent 3 days on it but still can't get it to work... Long Live Debian! :D

GDesklets work here for me :)

Enlightenment 17 (still far away from release, you got to get it from cvs) will be a real eye-candy thing: http://www.enlightenment.org/index.php? ... ct=ePortal

peschmae would you mind sharing on how you successfully got gDesklets to work? Anything would help. It was a real pain in the behind for me >_< I'd appreciate it. Thanks for the heads-up on this Enlightenment 17, I'll be sure to check it out.

How does it not work for you?

Details would help diagnose your problem.

Wait a couple of months and you will be able to have E17 + XGL .
TOTAL icandy. I tried this on my Gentoo box . It looks wicked and
is fun to play with but at this stage (and on my system ) breaks too
many other things - I had to reinstall 'cause I could not "unBreak them"
but it was definately worth it to see the possibilities. I believe it is being
worked on very heavily.
E17 is beta
Xorg 7.0 (modular x) is beta ?
Xgl is alpha
compiz is alpha
Pretty much looking for trouble at this stagebut it will be worth the wait.
Kororaa has a live cd with XGL and Gnome - you would have to google
for it but might be worth a look .I read about it on Distrowatch so it may be a good place to start . Check it out if you like iCandy
