Etch installer and grub
A few months ago, I installed Etch and found that its installer didn't seem to offer me a choice to install grub to the root partition -- that is, it installed only to the mbr. Perhaps I never saw the option to install it otherwise. Does the latest installer offer a choice to install grub to the root partition now?

I just installed with Etch beta3 and if my memory serves me right I was asked if I wanted to install grub to the mbr or to the root partition even though I didn't have another OS. I do recall, however, that in previous installs I was given a choice between Lilo and Grub, a choice I wasn't given this time. I've never used Lilo so I don't really care.
