Versioning confusion

Package: libstdc++6
Version: 4.1.1-11
Description: The GNU Standard C++ Library v3

This is something I've always wondered about. Is it v3, v4.1.1-11 or v6? :?

Various is the answer... the 6 on the end would be a soversion, the version field would be the version of version 3 AFAIK.
