Onboard NIC not recognized - Kali Linux
Posted: 2015-05-23 08:23
Hi,
I am running Linux kali 3.18.0-kali3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.18.6-1~kali2 (2015-03-02) x86_64 GNU/Linux on Oracle VM VirtualBox.
I am having hard time Kali reconize another onboard NIC. I have two NIC's which are recognized by Windows Ultimate 7:
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet#2
root@kali:~/broadcom# lspci | grep -i eth
00:03.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 02)
However, OS sees only eth0. eth1 can't be seen.
root@kali:~/broadcom# ifconfig -a
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 08:0a:27:97:44:2f
inet addr:192.168.1.113 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:95786 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:44591 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:90987212 (86.7 MiB) TX bytes:8530659 (8.1 MiB)
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:65536 Metric:1
RX packets:22277 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:22277 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:4369899 (4.1 MiB) TX bytes:4369899 (4.1 MiB)
How can I have OS detect another onboard NIC. I guess need to install proper driver?? How do I go about that.
PS: both NIC's are working fine on windows as they are connected to two different sub-nets.
Thanks in advance.
