130 Distros are "based" on Debian. Do you think we know about every one of them?

This is Debian User Forums, for people who use Debian.
So I have to ask here bro !
No you don't.

Some searches, on "X server", X-window, and maybe Xorg,
The "X server " as you are calling it, is used on many systems, and not
limited to just Debian, if you were using Debian, this would be the
the right place, maybe, but you are not.
I had a heck of a time getting Xorg and the Xwindow system working
on my Minix3 installation,... so any way, I asked them at the Minix3
forum,
On OpenBsd, I didn't have any problem,.. but if I did, I would have asked
at the OpenBsd forum,..
I do know one thing, "kali" does have a lot of good documentation,
and some where I read, that it is not good to mix the repositories, IE:
do not use the Debian repos, use the Kali repos,...so that could be part
of your problem,..If

If you are using the X server or Xorg from the Debian repos,....?
A good place to look for information on Xorg
https://www.x.org/wiki/
Also using these key words,:

Code: Select all

Problem with Xorg on a kali system
gets a lot of probably very use full results,... Did you try doing any searches ?

So, this is obviously some sort of graphics issue.

A. You don't provide any information about what graphics hardware you have.

B. You expect us to know or find out for you what level the graphics support packages are in Kali, which is not Debian.

Kali is provided for people with a working knowledge of how to find these things out--it is expressly not for beginners. I am beginning to think that the experts on their forum just ignore these types of questions.

Already the attempt to install nVidia proprietary drivers speaks volumes. Kali to play games? This is a distro run as root by default. Did OP have decency to at least create an unprivileged user to run Kali as a regular distro?

Not only "just ignore", they never make it to the public forum. The moderators remove them.

A tiny bit of search "foo" would discover that this problem has been
discussed on the kali forum,
key words :

Code: Select all

xorg on kali
In case the OP does not know how, just copy/paste they keywords into
your favourite search engine.
from the kali forum:http://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?5 ... lid-Thread

WARNING: OPENING A THREAD THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN THE NECESSARY INFORMATION MENTIONED ABOVE WILL NO LONGER BE APPROVED!!!
They also have a similar to ours, "READ Before your first post "
where it says,
1. Search for a solution before you post.
Before you post to our forums, try to search for the solution yourself. Start by searching the Official Kali documentation site, then the Kali forums. If nothing comes up, try Google next. If you still haven't come up with a solution, go ahead and post your question in the relevant forums. In most cases, the time you wait for your thread to be moderated and answered will be longer than the time it will take you to find a solution by searching.
,
The difference is, they seem to enforce that a little more strictly.
A post like the OP made would never get approved,...
In any event, since the OP seems to think "kali" is the same as Debian,
they might find a solution in one of the 1000's of threads on NVIDIA drivers, that have all ready been discussed here.
