And this is how you lose customers, ladies and gentlemen:

I don't know what they are thinking, but those people are not sane. Thinking about just how many people all over the world still use and wan't to use Windows 7 and 8.1, I can't help to wonder if this is one of the worst forced upgrade policies ever.

Just imagine Debian forcing you to upgrade to not the latest Stable, but Sid. Right here and now.

As if the above wasn't enough, M$ has dropped another "support bomb":

So, if I have a HP notebook from 2015 with Broadwell CPU, that means Microsoft will drop Win10 support once Intel says "we no longer want to release drivers for 5th gen CPUs" and HP agrees. Wonderful. Thank you Micro$oft, but I won't buy a new notebook even if its 2025. It is doing everything that it should just fine. So f%$/ you and your new policy.

I think it comes from decades of being the undisputed leader in pre-installed operating systems for consumer hardware, and thinking that nothing will stop users from buying windows, and that they can just shove another cash cow down their throats...
They still have a hard time wrapping their heads around "recent" development.
or maybe hardware manufacturer bribery is cheaper than creating a credible product.

(disclaimer: i'm not any sort of Linux/FOSS revelutionist, but these are the facts)
