This is bad. Any impact on GNU/Linux users? libinput driver should be updated, if so.

Where it states only HP notbooks are affected? I read all Synaptics OEM customers are impacted. Furthermore, it seems to be Windows driver issue.

A party would need administrative privileges in order to take advantage of the vulnerability.
I see no problem at all since anyone with root privileges is king under unix like operating systems. It is like claiming a residence is vulnerable to burglary if its front door is left with the key in its lock.

It is hard to get away from CLI tools.
