How OS X is winning Linux on the desktop?

"The most pragmatic contributors to Linux and open source gradually changed their goals from "an world run by open source" to "the open web". Others found that messing around with their audio card every six months to play music and the hardships of watching video on Linux were not worth that much. People started moving to OSX.

Many hackers moved to OSX. It was a good looking Unix, with working audio, PDF viewers, working video drivers, codecs for watching movies and at the end of the day, a very pleasant system to use. Many exchanged absolute configurability of their system for a stable system."

"What we did wrong
Backwards compatibility, and compatibility across Linux distributions is not a sexy problem. It is not even remotely an interesting problem to solve. Nobody wants to do that work, everyone wants to innovate, and be responsible for the next big feature in Linux.

So Linux was left with idealists that wanted to design the best possible system without having to worry about boring details like support and backwards compatibility.

Meanwhile, you can still run the 2001 Photoshop that came when XP was launched on Windows 8. And you can still run your old OSX apps on Mountain Lion.

Back in February I attended FOSDEM and two of my very dear friends were giggling out of excitement at their plans to roll out a new system that will force many apps to be modified to continue running. They have a beautiful vision to solve a problem that I never knew we had, and that no end user probably cares about, but every Linux desktop user will pay the price.

That day I stopped feeling guilty about my new found love for OSX."

This is a AI bot, I am sure, I know I am kind of sticking my neck out here,
since I am not a admin, nor moderator, but any way, I hope others do not
feed the troll bot, it will only encourage more ,... is this what we want on this forum ?

A human, would notice the other topic they started was locked:
How Windows is winning Linux on the desktop?
But bots , even AI bots, don't have the ability to reason, and do not notice things like that, so it started another topic, almost the same title, same intent,
to troll, ... A human would have read,Forum guidelines. Please read before first post!
When they see their posts are getting locked, or maybe ask why ,... bots do not read guidelines or rules.
The following might get your post/ thread LOCKED
- Flaming/ personal attacks
- Obvious trolling
- Thread has wandered way off topic
- Cross posting

In any event , human or bot, this kind of post, on a Debian forum, bashing Linux in general, is obvious trolling. Some one might argue my post is "flaming or a personal attack", that could apply if it was a human, but it isn't
it is a bot, so nothing personal at all.

Speaking of AI bots,.... this is almost scary :
https://www.theverge.com/2016/7/7/12111028/microsoft-bot-framework-artificial-intelligence-satya-nadella-interview
In the meantime, Microsoft is pouring AI resources into some of its biggest franchises: Windows and Office. One of the promises of AI is that it can anticipate your needs — it’s the foundational idea of Google Now, which presents you with traffic, weather, and sports scores the moment you unlock your phone.

So is this just a coincidence or what ?
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=135683Microsoft Office is the best, most used, most complete and most famous package of office tool in the world!

Much of what you do in MS Office, can be done in LibreOffice. Still, the standard Windows office suite takes advantage of having much more complete tools (though the average user may not make a difference) and is more popular.Microsoft Office is the best, most used, most complete and most famous package of office tool in the world!

Ladies and Germs, our pet is hungry, feed him! The worst that can happen to a troll is if nobody bothers to react.
